Sedimentology and Stratigraphy of the Pleistocene sediments in Lake Llauset (Southern Pyrenees, Spain)-a first approach
ثبت نشده
چکیده
The high alpine valleys in the Southem Pyrenees are characterised by a many small lakes and ponds. They occur above 2000 m and are said to have been formed by glacial erosion. The sediments in these basins should, therefore, contain s t p tigraphic information since deglaciation, at least. An interesting and may be one of the most important of these basins is Lake Llauset in the Alta Ribagorca. The Llauset basin has recently been developped for hydsopower production. In conection with the construction of the retaining wall at the "Riegel" the sedimentary filling of the lake basin could be investigated, and the first sedimentological and stratigraphical results are presented.

Sedimentology, mineralogy and sedimentary geochemistry of the Late Quaternary sedimentary sequence of Gavkhoni Playa by looking at the paleoclimate
The sediments of the Playa Lake are sensitive indicators of local climates that any change in climate, hydrology, and sedimentary environment will cause changes in the physical and chemical properties of the sediments. These sediments create a valuable and important archive with high resolution to examine these changes in the past. One method of studying climate change during quaternary and oft...
متن کاملIntegration of sedimentology and geoelectrical studies in Quaternary deposits in western and eastern coastal areas of southern part of Lake Urmia
Extended Abstract 1-Introduction Interdisciplinary studies play an important role in answering engineering questions. Identifying the characteristics of alluviums, underground water exploration and minerals, along with geotechnical studies in the construction of heavy structures are just some of these applications. Following the increasing drying of Lake Urmia, various research has been conduc...
متن کاملThe sequence and timing of large late Pleistocene floods from glacial Lake Missoula
Glacial Lake Missoula formed when the Purcell Trench lobe of the Cordilleran ice sheet dammed Clark Fork River in Montana during the Fraser Glaciation (marine oxygen isotope stage 2). Over a period of several thousand years, the lake repeatedly filled and drained through its ice dam, and floodwaters coursed across the landscape in eastern Washington. In this paper, we describe the stratigraphy ...
متن کاملOrigin and Distribution of Clay Minerals in Calcareous, Gypsiferous, Saline Soils and Sediments of Bakhtegan Lake Bank, Southern Iran
Pedogenesis and clay mineralogy of soils and rock samples were studied in a transect of calcareous, gypsiferous, saline soils and sediments of Bakhtegan lake bank in southern Iran. The main objectives of study were to determine the occurrence of clay minerals and factors controlling their distribution pattern and relative abundance in soils and parent materials. The soil parent material is high...

Extended Abstract: 1-Introduction There is a direct relationship in evaporative deposit with the changes in the depth of the lake. Therefore?, valuable information is gained regarding the causation of changes in environment over time. Evaporite minerals formation is a natural phenomenon accruing in water-bodies containing deferent mineral Since sulfate is abundant in seawater and saline lakes...
